Charlie Murel Griffin, Jr., 91, of Spring, TX went to be with Jesus April 24, 2026. He was born February 10, 1935, in Charlie, Texas to the late Charlie Murel Griffin and Minnie Elaine (Morgan) Griffin.

He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Nancy Angel Griffin; daughter, Angela "Angie" Griffin (Nikki Robertson-Griffin); daughter, Charla Johnson (Charlie Johnson); sister-in-law, Ivajean Reynolds Angel; and numerous friends, nieces and nephews.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-laws: George Angel, Harold Angel, Rev. James "Jim" Angel and Clyde Hartline; sister-in-laws: Reba Angel, Grace "Allyene" Angel, Darlene Angel and Betty Hartline.

Charlie was a follower of Christ who strove to follow the principles of Jesus's teachings which influenced his morals, ethics and daily life. Charlie graduated from Bowie High School (Bowie, TX) in 1953. After working for a few years, he entered college. Charlie was very athletic. He played softball until he was 75, was a lightweight boxer and semi-pro baseball player in his younger years. He also played college football at North Texas State (now called University of North Texas), where he met Nancy in social dance class. After graduating from college, he began working for FDIC as a bank auditor. He then became a CPA in the oil and gas industry which provided opportunities to travel all over the world. His co-workers always spoke very highly of him.

A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, April 29th at 2pm at Plano Mutual Cemetery, 2128 18th Street, Plano, Texas 75074.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, May 12th at 2pm at the Champion Forest Baptist Church Chapel, 15555 Stuebner Airline Rd., Houston, TX 77069
