Born on November 1 in Metropolis Illinois, Chuck Sheppard was the first child of Frank & Agnes Sheppard, to be followed by four brothers and a sister, survived by sister Nancy Ann and her husband Dennis O'Donnoghue and brother Michael Sheppard.   After graduating from Waite high school in Toledo Ohio, Chuck and his family moved to Phoenix, Arizona.

Chuck began his military career by serving in the Naval Reserves, then joined the U.S. Air Force.  Visiting St. John's Lutheran Church in San Antonio, after basic training at Lackland AFB led to meeting his future bride, Annette Gallaway.  Chuck & Annette married in 1958.

In the Air Force, he served a tour in Japan and a stint at the Pentagon in Washington D. C.  For his next career, Charles finished an undergraduate program at Texas Lutheran College in Seguin, Texas, and Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque Iowa.  Annette worked to put him through school, and their family expanded with sons David and Christopher.  He interned in Salem, Oregon.

Following his ordination, Chuck served at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Viroqua, Wisconsin, where the family settled, bought a farm, and adopted the girl they always wanted, Katherine Ann.

After leaving Wisconsin, the family moved south: Pastor Chuck served at St. Mark's in Bridge City, St. Peter in Bay City, ELC Church of the Redeemer in Houston, and St. Paul in Rosenberg Texas.  He concurrently served as chaplain Sea Fairer's Center, and in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Survivors include his wife Annette, daughter Katherine, son David, son Christopher and his wife Kari, grandchildren Elise, Nils, Kai and his wife Jessica, and great-granddaughter Annamarie.  Honorary grandchildren are Bradley Martin and Jaime Martin and their daughter Annabelle.  Also, his devoted companion dog Xammie.

Pastor Chuck was an voracious reader, photographer, automobile aficionado, gentleman farmer, fine-art painter, and award-winning watercolorist. Even in retirement, Chuck was strong in his faith, and loved leading Bible studies.

Gregarious and personable, Chuck was empathetic, a great listener and created fast friendships and community spirit wherever went.  Everybody loved Pastor Chuck.
