Obituary

.

Charles Arthur Scheffer, 81, was called home to his Lord on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in Tomball, Texas. He was born to the late Arthur and Gladys Scheffer on February 24, 1943, in Washington County, Texas.

Left to celebrate his life and cherish their memories of him are Susan, his loving and devoted wife of 60 years; his son Stephen Charles Scheffer, wife Jennifer, and daughter Eliza; his daughter Kristen Bardon and husband Richard, son Jacob and his fiancé Ellie Ly; his sister Betty Moyer and sisters-in-law Sunny Branch and Rosalie Scheffer; and a large number of loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Floyd and Gary Scheffer and sister Carolyn Scheffer.

His family and friends knew Charles as a man of strong determination, unyielding faith, and cutting wit. He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed few things more than watching his grandson play baseball or his granddaughter dance. He loved almost every sport, but he took special joy in playing tennis and softball, and in cheering on his beloved Houston Astros (even as he vowed to "never watch them again" at least three or four times every season). He was a dedicated and active member of the First Baptist Church in Tomball, Texas, and worked for 45 years as part of Houston Lighting and Power before retiring from Centerpoint Energy in 2007.

Charles had an uncanny ability to bring joy and laughter into the world, leaving behind treasured memories for all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the First Baptist Church of Tomball building fund.
