Charles August Lindle, Jr. ("Charlie"), 85, entered eternal rest January 30, 2021, in Houston, Texas. Charlie was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on September 10, 1935, to Charles August Lindle and Elizabeth Susan Vennell. He worked in his father's grocery store and graduated from Swatara Township High School in 1953, where he was in the Honor Society and the chorus, played Trumpet in the band, and managed the S.T.H.S Track team. Proud to be the first member of his family to attend college, Charlie graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 1957.

With job offers in California and Texas, Charlie chose the latter because the job in California only paid $10 more per week. He moved to Fort Worth, Texas, to begin his career at General Dynamics. During Splash Week in Galveston the summer of 1957, he recognized a familiar face from work and introduced himself to Mary Sue Wallace, originally from Brice, Texas. They began dating when they returned to Fort Worth, and were united in marriage on July 23, 1960.

In 1961, Charlie took a job with the Chrysler Corporation and they moved to Huntsville, Alabama, where their children were born. He was proud to have been a part of the Apollo program and Skylab, where he worked on flight trajectory and rocket propulsion systems, and on other aircraft, missile and space projects. In 1975, he moved the family to Houston, Texas, where he began working for the Bechtel Corporation. Charlie retired in 2001 from Kellogg Brown & Root where he provided management services in new project proposal preparation, contract negotiations and administration, and performance of engineering, construction, maintenance and repair projects in power generation, petrochemical and paper mill facilities.

In his retirement, Charlie enjoyed playing golf, tinkering in his garage, and served as President of his homeowner's association. His greatest passion however was flying, and although he never achieved his dream of getting his pilot license, he was a member of the Houston Sport Flyers club and loved building and flying his multitude of radio controlled model airplanes.

Charlie is survived by his sons Charles August Lindle, III ("Trey") and wife Michelle, Marty Jay Lindle and wife Mariam, and Jonathan Howard Lindle and wife Robin; his grandchildren Travis Charles Lindle, Laura Katherine Lindle, Allison Charlotte Lindle, Andrew Joseph Lindle ("Bingo"), George Duke Lindle, and Greyson Jack Lindle; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved wife and his parents.

A memorial celebration of Charlie's life will be held for family and close friends and will be planned later this year. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Charles' name to the Wounded Warrior Project or to a charity of your choice.
