Dr. Charles Evans Hammonds passed away on June 22nd, 2021 due to complications
resulting from surgery. He was born in Brownwood, Texas, on July 22nd, 1942. He
played football for Brownwood High School, whereafter, he graduated from his beloved
Texas A & M University where he was a member of the Letterman's Club and Alumni
Association. He was an avid sports fan with a great love of all things Aggie.

After graduating from Texas A & M, he went to the San Francisco School of Podiatry
and graduated in 1969 with a Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine. He joined the U.S. Army
and was commissioned as a Captain. In 1972, he started practicing Podiatry and
signed up with a joint practice at Houston Northwest Foot Center. He served as the
President of the Texas Podiatry Association and was the recipient of many professional
accolades in his 49 years of professional practice. He was a board certified foot
surgeon.

In 1969, Charlie met and married the love of his life, Carol Ridenour. They had two
children and were a part of the Champions community of Houston for many years.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents Dr. Charles Marvin Hammonds and Jean
Hammonds and his granddaughter Lindsey Hughes.

He is survived by his wife Carol Ridenour Hammonds, Daughters Tracy Hammonds
Hughes and Amanda Hammonds Smith, Grandchildren Jillian Hughes, Clay and Kyle
Gilmore, and Garrison, Ryan and Emma Smith, Sons in law Gordon Hughes and Troy
Smith, sisters Jeanette Curry and Debbie Hammonds and brother Roy Hammonds,
along with many beloved sister-in-laws and their families, nieces, nephews, great nieces
and great nephews.

Charlie served God, his Country and his family. All of us knew him as a kind, gentle
man of many diverse interests. He was an avid fisherman, humorist, hunter, golfer,
pilot, artist and father. Charlie was a mason and was a lifetime committee member of
the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He was also a long time member of the
Tomball Gun Club where he participated in numerous shooting events.

Charlie lived his life to the fullest. He had few regrets. The path he followed is a fine
example to us all… Life and job well done Charles… May you be with the Lord and rest
in Peace.
