Godwin on Nov. 14, 1954, while working for Standard Oil. He went to San Francisco State and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in business while also working full time. Their daughter Kim was born in 1955, and daughter Sherri was born in 1958. He worked at Standard Oil until moving to Indiana in 1963. He started working at Marathon Oil, and worked there for 28 years, until retiring in 1992. They have been blessed with 5 grandchildren. Daughter Kim(Fred) and late husband Jack and their four daughters, Ashleigh (Mike), Lindsey, Jennah(Reed), and Jordan (John). Daughter Sherri and husband Tracy had one son, Jeff (Jessica). Chuck and Paddy have also been blessed with nine great-children: Aleigh, Sawyer, Eli, Reid, and Wesleigh Schaeffer, Brynleigh Carnicelli, Sunny Kennicutt, Ava and Jeffrey Koss.

Chuck and Paddy bought an RV and traveled for seven years all over the country making many new friends and great memories. They bought a house in Ashland, Kentucky and settled down for nine years. They then moved to Findlay, Ohio and resided there for five years. In 2015 they moved to Houston with their Son-in-law  Tracy and daughter Sherri. They moved to Paradise Springs Retirement Community during Hurricane Harvey and lived here until Paddy's passing on Nov. 2, 2019,  And his death on Monday, July 5, 2021.
