Obituary

Charles ("J.W.") Cox of Stagecoach, TX, passed away peacefully at his home on August 5th, 2020 at the age of 88. J.W. was born on February 3, 1932 in Rio Grande Valley, TX to the late R.A. Cox and Thelma Spainhoner.

J.W. was married to his wife, Carolyn, for over 59 years. They raised three children, Jeannie, Harry and Charlie and he had three children from a previous marriage, Vivian, Lynn and Janet.

J.W. proudly served his country in the U.S. Army before beginning his long career with Pan Am which he retired from after 36 years.

J.W. had a love for fishing and hunting. He was an active member with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo where he served on the Lamb and BBQ Committee and later became a lifetime member. He and his wife spent many years raising cattle at their home in Stagecoach, TX where they have resided for the last 55 years.

J.W. is preceded in death by his parents, R.A. and Thelma, and his three brothers, Lloyd, Virgil and Ray.

J.W. is survived by his wife, Carolyn,and their three children, Jeannie Bailey, Harry Schillings(Christine), and Charlie Cox(Michelle). He is survived by eight grandchildren: Jessie Bailey(Debbie); Jason Bailey(Erin); David Schillings (Kim); Lisa Shamrock (Blake), Charlie Cox, Dylan Cox, Sam Cox, and John Cox. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Jayln Bailey, Joely Bailey, Addison Schillings, Savannah Schillings, Ava Schillings, Tyler Shamrock, Cadyn Shamrock, and Lathyn Shamrock.
