Obituary

Charles Frank Cooper Jr. passed away on Monday, August 17 th at the age of 73. His friends called him Charlie and he spent his last years enjoying retirement and fishing on Trinity Bay in Oak Island.  Following in his father's footsteps, Charlie worked as a plumber and was a lifetime member of the Plumbers Local Union 68.  He was a hard worker, loyal, lover of all animals and devoted to his family and friends. His passions included racing and fishing.  He was heavily involved in the Texas Super Sprinters back in the 80's, always raising money for the organization by cooking and selling BBQ on race nights. His biggest challenge came after losing his home during hurricane Ike. In true Charlie fashion, the only loss that concerned him was his family photos.  Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Frank Cooper and Margaret Cooper, and sister Alice Slaughter.  He is survived by his son Ronny Cooper and wife Darlene of Houston, brother Richard "Crazy" Cooper and wife Brenda of Conroe and many nieces and nephews.  His wishes were to be cremated and a private celebration of life will be held in the near future for family and friends.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the Houston SPCA.
