Charles "Chuck" Rouse Atwood was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 20,1944. He passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on December 8, 2025, with family by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Harriette (Rouse) Atwood, and his brother Edward.

Chuck leaves behind a large and loving family, including, his wife, Catherine, daughters, Ann Marie Gazdick, Cynthia Bennett (William) Kara Traylor (Jason), and Jennifer Richard. He enjoyed 13 grandchildren, Lauren (Bryan), Michael (Kaitlyn), Evan, Nicholas, Abigail (Nolan), Rebecca, Sara Kate, Camryn, Makayla, Braden, Delaney, Clayton, and Brynn. He was also blessed with two great grandchildren, Madelyn, Morgan, and a great-grandson on the way.

Chuck dedicated 33 years of his life to General Motors, serving as a Sales Manager in the Aftermarket Parts Division. Throughout his career, he built not only professional success, but lasting friendships that he cherished deeply. Outside his work, Chuck was an avid saltwater fisherman and was affectionately known in every neighborhood he lived in as the "gardener of the month". He took great pride in everything he did. Wherever Chuck went, especially when surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, laughter and humor were always close behind.

He began his lifelong love for the Indianapolis 500 at a young age, attending races with his father. Chuck never missed a race for decades and was always accompanied by family and friends each Memorial Day weekend. This cherished tradition has now been passed down to his grandchildren ensuring his love for the Indy 500 will continue for generations to come.

He took great pride in everything he did, approaching each project and task with careful attention to detail. His presence filled every room with warmth and nowhere was this more evident than when he was surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. With his easy humor and quick wit, Chuck brought laughter into every conversation.

Ten years ago, Chuck was blessed with a single-lung transplant after being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Over the years, he courageously faced numerous bouts of pneumonia and lung infections, fighting each one with strength and determination. He became one of the longest-living single-lung transplant recipients at Methodist Transplant Center and was often seen as an inspiration and source of encouragement for other transplant patients. To our family, he was simply known as "Superman". We were truly blessed.

Chuck leaves behind a legacy of love and unwavering devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Thank you for honoring his life and for being with us as we celebrate his remarkable journey.
