Charles Richards "Chuck" Atteberry of Cypress, Texas, passed away on 25 August 2020 at a health care facility in Northwest Houston as a result of steadily declining health in recent years. He was 78 years old.

Chuck is preceded in death by his son Charles "Mac" Atteberry, mother Wilma, and father David. Chuck is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Ellen, husband Jeffrey Hostetler, granddaughter Madelyn Hostetler, brother David Atteberry, wife Ann, sister Lynn Guidry, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

We can only imagine the scene as the nuns from St. Edmund Catholic School in Eunice, Louisiana, greeted Chuck on his arrival to heaven to congratulate him on a life well lived. Our hearts swell with the joy that Chuck must have felt at being reunited with his son, Mac. Knowing them, they are rally racing in heaven and making great times.

Chuck was born (1942) and raised in Eunice and married (1966) Judy Viator in New Iberia, Louisiana. Chuck and Judy raised two children, a son and daughter, while living in New Iberia, LA, Lafayette, LA, Oklahoma City, OK and Houston, Texas. Chuck graduated with a bachelor's degree in Geology from the Southwestern Louisiana Institute of Liberal and Technical Learning (SLI, now University of Louisiana at Lafayette – ULL) and completed an advanced degree in "mud engineering" with his first and only employer aside from brief service in the US Army. Chuck retired in 2007 after a long career in the petrochemical industry working for a single company that went by many names over the years: Milwhite, Milchem, Milpark, and Baker-Hughes. Chuck was known as a no-nonsense supervisor and manager, but his family and friends know that away from the office, Chuck was all about nonsense. Once at his favorite family vacation spot in Destin, Florida, he gave Judy a push to the South on her floating raft and said, "Say hello to Fidel!" Chuck was an avid outdoorsman, participating in hunting, fishing, and birding expeditions all over North America. He enjoyed living in Texas, cooking, dining around Houston, and following high school and college football.

Services will be held at 2:30pm on 25 September at Prince of Peace Catholic Church of Houston (19222 Tomball Pkwy, Houston, TX 77070). A graveside service will immediately follow.
