Mrs. Charlene Rae Lane, 69, of The Woodlands, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, in Tomball, TX. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022, 10:00 am at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 W. Main Street, Tomball, TX. The family will receive visitors from 9 am to 10 am prior to the service. Graveside services will follow at Fairview Cemetery in White Hall. Arrangements are under the direction of Klein Funeral Home Tomball.
Charlene was born in Shreveport, LA, on February 5, 1953. She married the love of her life, Jimmy Dayton Lane, on July 27, 1973, in Plainview, TX. Charlene grew up in Amarillo, TX and was a member of the Tascosa High School Class of 1971. Charlene was an accomplished writer of stories of love, hope and redemption. More than anything, she was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who possessed a special gift for encouraging and uplifting all those who were lucky enough to know her. Her passions included spending time with her family, the beach, sailing, writing, and CityChurch Outreach.
Charlene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Bill & Dee Lane of Plantersville; daughters and sons-in-law, Tauna & Darien Gist of Oklahoma City, OK, Andrea Smith of Kingwood, Jami & Jason Kuder of Montgomery, and Brandi & Ladd Laird of The Woodlands; sisters Toni Craven of Amarillo, Joni Levassar of Fritch, and Georgie Harris of Denham Springs, LA; brothers and sisters-in law, Joe & Tima Marler of Livingston, LA, and John & Belinda Minton of Denham, Springs, LA; brother-in-law Clayton "Dale" Lane of Amarillo; grandchildren: Heath, Dylan, Theresa, Matthew, Deanna, Justin, Ashley, Jackson, Emily, and James "Peyton"; great-grandchildren: Mackenzie and Draco; and numerous cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Jimmy Dayton Lane; parents Wendell "Ray" and Ophelia "Rae" Kuykendall; biological father Douglas Minton; and brother Douglas Minton, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to CityChurch Outreach, 205 S. Polk St., Amarillo, TX 79101.
