Charlene Marie Johnson, 87, of Tomball, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, following a brief illness.

Charlene was born on July 18, 1939, in Houston, Texas. She was born with a congenital heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot, or “Blue Baby Syndrome,” and underwent multiple surgeries from infancy through age 20 in Baltimore, Maryland, and Houston, Texas. World-renowned heart surgeon Dr. Denton Cooley performed her final surgery at age 20 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston.

Charlene defied the odds and went on to enjoy a long and happy life filled with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She adored her “babies” and loved keeping up with their school activities, sports, band performances, and livestock accomplishments. Charlene retired from Unocal, now Chevron, in 2005.

She is survived by her son, Val (Ray) Foster Jr., and his wife, Jeanne Foster; her brother, Charles Johnson Jr.; her grandchildren, Cameron Kubos and his wife, Maycie Meyer-Kubos; Cheyanne Essery and her husband, Travis Essery; Jeremy Galladora and his partner, Madison Jones; Chayn Foster and his partner, Makenna Chrane; and Carson Foster. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Raney Essery, Colter Essery, Bentley Galladora, Wilder Galladora, Ryken Galladora, and Raiden Galladora.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Hubert Johnson and Verna Basinski Johnson; her son, Maurice John Foster; her daughter, Valari Foster Kubos; her sister, Patsy Becker; and her brother, Ronnie Johnson.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home Magnolia, located at 14711 FM 1488, Magnolia, Texas. A Rosary will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home Magnolia, with Deacon Max Fritzel officiating. The Rite of Committal will immediately follow at Klein Memorial Park Magnolia.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Cameron Kubos, Cheyanne Essery, Jeremy Galladora, Chayn Foster, and Carson Foster.
