Obituary

Charla Ann Anthony, age 72, died peacefully at Tomball Regional Hospital in Tomball, Texas on Tuesday, January, 14, 2020. She was born to the late Charles Lorenz and Evelyn Wagner Lorenz on April 2, 1947 in Decatur, Illinois.

Charla graduated from Butler High School in Huntsville, Alabama in 1967. She was a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers and National Fraternity of Student Musicians and Piano Hobbyists of the World where she taught 18 students from 1964-1967. She met her future husband, Carl, at the NCO club while there with her parents during the summer of 1967. They married three months later and the Army moved them to Nuremberg, Germany, where they had their first child, Chuck. The Army then moved them to Fort Benning, Georgia where they had their second child, Julie, and then Fort Knox, Kentucky where they had their third child, Jenny. They finally settled in Texas after Carl's separation from the Army in 1978.

Charla moved to Texas in 1979 and lived in Garland for about ten years before settling in Spring in 1991. She worked in assembly production at Texas Instruments in Dallas from 1980 - 1988 and then worked in customer service at Compaq in Houston from 1994 - 1999. She quit work to care for her elderly mother until her mother's death in 2001. She then worked at Kohls in the jewelry department, which was her favorite job, and then quit working there to care for her two granddaughters.

Charla was a devout Christian, loved her family, adopted and rescued several dogs and cats, enjoyed teaching herself how to work on computers, and loved going for walks and riding her bike. Her soul was bound to her family. She had the biggest heart in her family and devoted her life to caring for others. She always put others before herself and thrived on ensuring other's needs were met. Her heart belonged to her husband, Carl, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 30, 2017.

Charla is survived by her husband Carl of Spring, Texas, son Chuck Anthony of Willis, Texas, daughters Julie (Hugh) Denny of Anchorage, Alaska and Jennifer Anthony of Spring, Texas, grandchildren Hillari Denny, Brendon Denny, Baylee Cantrell, Kylee (Kemp) Neyman, Hunter Denny, Jaden Anthony, Katalina Marks, and great-grandchild Nicole Neyman.

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her at Grace Care Center at Northpointe during her last few years and Tomball Regional Hospital during her last few days.

Arrangements were provided by Klein Funeral Homes and Charla will be interred at Houston National Cemetery.
