Cecil William Curry, brought into this world on a farm in Lott, TX on February 10th, 1929, passed away July 14, 2017 at the age of 88. Always yearning for more, he left the farm as quickly as he could when his ambitions led to an enlistment into the Army Air Corps in 1946 operating B29s as a member of the 22nd bomber group. He voyaged to Okinawa, Japan initially, but being the spirited patriot that he was, he reenlisted in 1950 where he toured Michigan, Austria, and Germany. Much to his dismay, though, his time was suppressed by a medical illness, thus yielding an early discharge.

After being discharged from the military, Cecil toiled around before finally settling with Western Electric as an installer, where he worked in Alief, Brenham, and Hearne when they were just blips on the map, along with other outlying communities of the Greater Houston Metropolitan. Throughout his career, he played a role in formulating the city we know today, accomplishing many feats which included progressing us away from the operator assisted dialing system. Cecil's steadfast loyalty and consistency meant he never missed a day until his retirement from a company that was equally as rewarding and appreciative of his efforts.  This ethic was instilled into his three daughters, while his wife, Joyce, taught them the value of a dollar. Cecil had a habit of saying, "I made the money, but it was Joyce who saved the money."

Cecil is predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Loretta Curry, his mother Linda Hedwig Miller Curry and his father Oners Ezeika Curry. His brother James Curry and wife Ivy Dell, and his brother Leonard Curry and wife Emma.

Cecil is survived by his three daughters, Janice Whitman-Vierus and husband Gary, Nancy Nicholson, and Cathy Williams and husband Michael.

Also surviving are his sister Aileen Schaefer, his younger brother Donald Curry and wife Rose, brother-in-law Leon Jordan and wife Mary, and brother-in-law Bill Jordan.

Grandchildren: Kayla Markert-Rose and husband James, Aaron Whitman, Christopher Nicholson and wife Rikki, Eric Nicholson, Wendy Bain Klotz and husband Jason, and Jason Bain and wife Precious.

Great-grandchildren: Gavin Rose, Raileigh Nicholson, Abbygail Nicholson, Reagan Klotz, Vaughn Klotz, Stetson Bain, along with many nieces and nephews.

Cecil was a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.  He was a gentle, kind man who loved his wife and three daughters.   Supporting and providing for his family was a natural calling for him, and he was always willing to help anyone in need. The outdoors was his Eden, especially his ever-flourishing garden, which was not just a simple hobby, but a true second love.  His personality affected anyone who was lucky enough to be in his presence, and he will forever be ingrained in our hearts.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the care given by all of the doctors, nurses, and staff, along with the Hospice Care teams that worked with both Cecil and Joyce over the past two years.  Cecil and Joyce's last two years at Grace Care Center at Northpointe, Tomball Retirement Center, and Tomball Regional Hospital were filled with the best of care. The family would also like to thank Dr. Jafri, Dr. Sinatora, Dr. Talwar and Dr. Santamaria.
