In Loving Memory
Mary Catherine (Mott) Sheeren
August 16, 1953 – June 19, 2021
Mary Catherine (Cathy) left her earthly family to be with her Heavenly family June 19, 2021 at 67 years after a courageous battle due to complications from lung cancer.
Cathy was born August 16, 1953 in San Antonio TX to her parents, Bill and Rae Mott. She found the love of her life and lifelong companion in Timothy Sheeren and they were married November 24, 1973.
Cathy is survived by her loving husband Tim, three cherished sons, Ryan, Joe & Nick, daughters-in-law, Farrah, Becky and Jackie and precious grandchildren, Adian, Eli, Isaac, William and Luke, her three brothers, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her mom, dad and sister Nell Keener.
Cathy's sense of pride and love for her family manifested itself by hosting all out celebrations for birthdays, anniversaries and graduations that always started with Tim's legendary hotdogs and burgers (grilled to perfection) and usually ended with both a cookie cake and one of her exquisite pies, truffles or cakes. She took great joy and passion in expressing her love through serving others. It was not uncommon for her to host Thanksgiving and/or Christmas and spend days in advance preparing fabulous dishes and delegating cleanup and other household chores to Tim who waited with great enthusiasm to do them. One of Cathy's most enjoyable past times was going to watch her five grandkids play each of their respective sports. Whether it was wrestling, softball, basketball or baseball, she was a permanent fixture in the stands. Even in some of her weakest days, she wouldn't miss an opportunity to be there cheering them on, always very vocal with pointing out what her beloved grandkids did right, completely overlooking any of the negative. She loved each of her grandkids with a true agape love.
For many years Cathy was a part of a local lady's tennis league where she was able to connect with women and forge long lasting friendships that she truly cherished. Friendships weren't something that was a problem for her to develop. During her 15-year career at CenterPoint she was able to create long lasting friendships that still remained. Cathy also spent 17 years running the nursery at St. Edwards Catholic Church where she was able to make an impact for the Church which also served as another avenue to build lifelong friendships.
A memorial vigil service will be held at Klein Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday June 29 from 5 – 8pm. A Catholic funeral will be held June 30 at St. Edwards starting at 2pm followed by the burial at Klein Memorial Cemetery. All are welcome to attend a celebration of life/Irish style wake that will follow the burial back at the parish life center at St. Edwards.
