Catherine "Cathy" McCabe of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, was a fiercely loving wife, mom, mema, sister, and friend. She left this world on May 27 at age 72.
She was born and raised in Port Jervis, New York, to the late Robert "Bob" Oliver and Catherine "Kay" Oliver.
Before retiring in 2015, Cathy served in Civil Service at Keesler Air Force Base for over 30 years, in multiple squadrons including the 1839th and 738 EIS. She built a second family on base, and loved her life long friends she met there.
She loved her family and friends fiercely. She was the heart of our home. She was a rambunctious player of cards from Uno to pinochle and an avid supporter of all the games and sports the family played. She had a special talent for jumping on trampolines, telling squirrel jokes, reminding us not to step on sleeping bees, and that we could do things the easy way or the hard way. While I don't know that she loved to cook, she definitely loved to cook for her family, and we especially loved her sauce, lasagna, chicken soup, and black bottom cupcakes. She was also tough, and she made us tougher and so somehow we will get through this.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen McCabe; her daughters, Susan Prisco Kimbrough, Carrie Morrison, Kerri Smith, and Jill Boyer; her son-in-law's, Darrell Morrison, Paul Kimbrough, Eric Smith, and Josh Boyer; her grandsons, Clayton Morrison, Cole Morrison, Dustin Morrison, Kaden Smith, and Kyle Kimbrough; her granddaughters, Emily Boyer, Briley Smith, Kinsley Smith, Breelyn Smith; her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Rose Oliver; her sister, Bobbi Suetterlin; and several nephews and nieces, Frank and Jerilyn Oliver and family, Kyle and Taylor Oliver and family, Matthew and Ann Merritt and family, Henry and Tricia Graf and family, Marshall Suetterlin and Shelby Gant and family, Amanda and Matt Kosteck and family, and several other family members.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 31 at 2PM at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 W Main Street, Tomball, TX 77375. Interment to follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park in Ocean Springs, MS.
