Obituary

Carter Patrick Murphy, age 4, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 22, 2025, surrounded by love.

Carter is survived by his devoted parents, James and Johanna Murphy; his identical twin brother, Brooks; and his older brothers, James and Connor. He is also survived by his grandparents, Mary Murphy, and Johanna and Angel Velarde; his aunts and uncles, George and Kelli Murphy, Angel Velarde, and Daniel Velarde; and his cousins, Liam and Colin Murphy. Carter was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert L. Murphy, and his great-grandparents, Susana Chen Aulestia, Marcos Jurado, Dora Marciscano, and Angel Velarde.

Though his time with us was far too short, Carter filled every moment with joy, courage, and wonder. Fearless and full of curiosity, he embraced life with the spirit of an explorer—climbing, running, and discovering the world around him with wide-eyed excitement. He had a special love for animals, and found great joy in his favorite books, especially Brown Bear, Brown Bear.

Carter looked up to his big brothers with awe and admiration. His laughter was contagious, his hugs and squeezes were fierce, and his presence brought light to every room. He had an instant connection with all who knew him, specially his Nanny who has helped care for him since he was just 2-weeks old.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Carter's teachers at Action Behavior Center and his dedicated therapists, whose guidance and care helped Carter's beautiful personality shine through. With their help, Carter's voice, playfulness, and spark were shared with all who knew and loved him.

Carter will always be remembered as a vibrant, loving soul—brave, wild, and deeply cherished. And even in his passing, Carter became a hero. Through the gift of organ donation, he was able to save the lives of others in need. His legacy of love, courage, and generosity will live on in the hearts—and bodies—of others.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Rd., Houston, TX 77065. Interment will follow at Klein Memorial Park – CyFair, 14711 Cypress North Houston Rd., Cypress, TX 77429.
