Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carroll Kenneth Graves, affectionately known as Ken, on September 19, 2025. He departed peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on December 11, 1936, near Italy, Texas, Ken was known for his enthusiastic approach to life and his unwavering positivity. Throughout his 88 years, he greeted others with a smile and cultivated meaningful relationships. Ken took pleasure in home improvement projects (especially if it involved use of the tractor) and found relaxation in viewing his favorite channels—Hallmark and Turner Classic Movies—accompanied by his cherished dogs, Odie and Garfield. He valued the time spent observing or assisting with projects of others and deeply treasured moments shared with family during vacations in his motor home and on boating trips. Ken embraced each day fully and imparted wisdom to those around him.
Ken had a wide array of interests, including college sports, automobiles, and RC model airplanes. As an avid hobbyist, he enjoyed piloting aircraft, captaining boats, presenting a spirited innertube challenge to those who dared to partake, and engaging in lively games of poker and Mexican Train. His passion for acquiring new tools and toys was matched only by his devotion to his pets, ensuring they received excellent care.
He will be fondly remembered for fostering warmth and laughter, sharing good meals, and creating lasting memories. Ken welcomed visits from family and friends, enjoying their company with a glass of peach sweet tea.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, Freddie Graves, and his mother, Mildred Littlejohn Greer Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kris Graves; his children, Connie Temple, Kelly Tarr, and Scott Carroll Graves; and his grandchildren, Amelia and Violet Tarr, and Teagan and Liam Graves.
Ken's kindness, generosity, and enduring spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy will continue to inspire his family to live bravely, love wholeheartedly, and cherish their bonds.
Interment services will be held on Friday, November 21st at 3:00 PM at Klein Memorial Park Cemetery (14711 Cypress North Houston Rd). A Celebration of Life ceremony will follow at 4:00 PM at Juergen's Hall Community Center (26026 Hempstead Road, Cypress, TX 77429). Family and friends are invited to honor Ken's life and legacy.
