Carolyn Nell Bacon Vibrock 93, passed away peacefully in her home on August 29, 2023. Carolyn was born July 30, 1930, to Carl Albert Bacon and Katie Nell Sullivan Bacon in Palestine, Anderson Co. TX. Carolyn was the middle child of the seven siblings (Kay, Vee, Lou, Carolyn, Ann, Sonny & Pete) and moved to Houston, TX at age 12. She graduated Reagan HS '48 in Houston Heights and soon worked in the Audit department of Houston National Bank.
Carolyn loved to dance, make her own dresses, and travel to Galveston with friends. Her sisters called her "Tiny" as she had the tiniest waistline for those dresses she made.

In 1951, Carolyn met Charles Vibrock and they married in 1954 in Houston, TX. They were married almost 60 yrs. until Charles died in 2013. Their long and successful marriage was described in 2009 by Charles as:
"This lady was a patient and loving person, who endured many moves, particularly the separation of one year during the Vietnam era. Carolyn took everything in her way, good or bad, and moved on to the next challenge without any hesitation.  A military wife had to have the ability to bounce back from all adversity. Our military separation was very difficult for her to cope with at times. She had more than her share. One long year due to the Vietnam situation and extensive other TDY periods. This lady was the most patient and loving person I ever knew, and it was the thing that paid off in holding our marriage together. I have never known anyone like her. Carolyn's parents and siblings were rock solid in character and kindness. This was something I craved and fed on. Carolyn, I love you and always will."

As an Air Force officer's wife, Carolyn was always busy. Crafts, kids, fund raising, social events, family time. She traveled to many locations all over the world starting in Waco TX, then off to Dover DE, Biloxi MS, Austin TX, England, Papillion NE, Midwest City OK, Houston TX. She dressed for the occasion and location as can be seen in her many fashionable pictures. She made many of her own clothes and dressed the boys to match.
Her 3 boys, Mike, Tim, and Charlie were her center of attention. She stretched a dollar better than most and planned a week's meals out at a time. Tim was the only one to complain about his single pork chop, but we all managed very well.
In 1957, Charles and Carolyn bought a lot in a north Houston pecan grove that became the site of their Air Force retirement home in 1976. Charles continued his work in sales and Carolyn worked odd jobs and began volunteering at what is now HCA Houston NW Hospital. She worked in the hospital gift shop for over 30 years making gift baskets to raise money for healthcare scholarships for students pursuing medical careers. Carolyn's other hobbies included painting, stained glass, brass rubbings, art, and her 3 favorite TV shows, The Wheel, Bold & The Beautiful, and of course Houston Astros baseball so she could watch the "little guy".

Carolyn joined the Lutheran Church when she married Charles and Trinity Lutheran Klein became their cornerstone church in 1976. Together they were active in the Texas German Society, the Bethesda Thrift Store in Tomball, and Carylon loved assisting with the Trinity's Ladies Aide.

Carolyn's pursuits also included the genealogy of her family. She was a very proud member of both the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She always hoped that one of her relatives would continue the work she started to tie the lineage to William Bradford (governor) of the Mayflower.

Carolyn is predeceased by her parents, her husband Charles, sons Michael & Charles Jr., her sisters Kay, Vee, Lou, Ann, and brother Pete. She is survived by her son Tim Vibrock, daughter-in-law Sandra Vibrock, grandsons Eric Vibrock and John Vibrock, her brother Sonny, and many other nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends that will remember Carolyn as a sweet person with a kind heart.

Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church Klein, TX at 10 am Friday, September 1, 2023. The family will receive friends beginning at 9am. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.
