Carolyn Cornelia Pauline Plackemeier Klammer, 97, was called to glory on August 30, 2024. Born May 15, 1927 in Denton, Texas, to The Reverend Harry and Elsa (Alchelpol) Plackemeier, the family moved to Houston several years later when Carolyn's father was called to pastor Bethany Lutheran Church
Carolyn described her childhood as idyllic despite having grown up during the Great Depression. Belonging to a close-knit Lutheran dayschool and church community offered security and many examples of servanthood.
Servanthood was one of Carolyn's spiritual gifts; she attended with grace, not only to her husband and children, but fulfilled many service opportunities in the body of Christ.  Brewing coffee, cooking and serving food for fellowship functions, filling a position on the LWML board, and preparing the Sacraments and setting the table for Holy Communion are among the ways she lovingly served the church.
Including her parents, Carolyn was preceeded in death by her husband of sixty two years, Martin Walter Klammer; granddaughter, Mylie Ferguson; brother, Harry Plackemeier; sisters, Joan Alkire and Kathleen Ludwig.
She is survived by her children, Janice Flythe(William); Michael Klammer(Beth); Paul Klammer(Melanie); David Klammer; and Julie Klammer; grandchildren, Jeremy Klammer(Beth); Kristen Smith(Jason); Matt Klammer; Zac Klammer(Lindsey); and Mia Antunez(Victor);
Great grandchildren, Caden, Karis and Karlie Klammer; Mikah and Junah Smith; and Jackson Klammer.
Interment service will be held Thursday, September 5, 2024, 10 am at Woodlawn Cemetary, 1101 Antoine Drive, Houston, Texas, 77055. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:30 pm at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2612 Meadowedge Lane, Spring, Texas, 77388; the Reverend Ted Benson presiding.
