Carolyn Dahse Laird joined our Lord, in heaven, on May 27, 2023 in Spring, Texas. She was born on March 25, 1942 in Weimar, Texas to Irma Brandes Dahse and Norwin Gus Dahse. Carolyn was the youngest of four siblings; Donald, Elaine, and Byron. Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother, Donald, and her sister, Elaine. She is survived by her husband, her brother, her three children, and eight grandchildren.

Carolyn grew up in Weimar, Texas and graduated from Weimar High School as Salutatorian with the class of 1960. In her time in high school, she enjoyed many activities including marching band and the Wildcat Twirlers.

She attended the University of Texas at Austin where she earned a Bachelor's of Education in Special and Elementary Education in 1964. She was a member of the Student Education Association and the ACE, and she also served as an Resident Advisor for three years. During her time in college, she met her future husband Nick Laird.

After graduating from college, she began her teaching career in the Austin public school system for two years. Carolyn spent most of her time teaching in the Klein Independent School district at Ehrhardt Elementary, where she worked until she retired after having taught fourth and fifth graders for nearly 25 years.

Nick and Carolyn married on September 4, 1965 in Austin, Texas. In 1966, she welcomed her first child and took on her new role as mother. She welcomed this new role, and created a strong loving foundation for her three children and husband. She often joined her husband on his business trips and meetings.  In retirement, they attended many seminars and took a Charles Stanley cruise to Alaska. Her sons were active in a variety of sports and she loved sitting through them. Even though they were vast in number, she enjoyed every single one of them. Nick and Carolyn had three children, Leisl, Gregory, and Randall, and eight grandchildren; Lauren, Collin, Elizabeth, Katherine, Preston, Lukas, Luisa, and Laura.

Those who were close to Carolyn can attest to her "go with" attitude. Regardless of the task or adventure, Carolyn was always excited to accompany those she loved, and often with her own delightful humor. Carolyn's eldest granddaughter fondly remembers her joyful "pstts" that came with a soft poke in the side, whenever they were grocery shopping or going for a walk.

She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and spent many Christmases in the Washington D.C. area to be close with her family, as well as times with family in Dallas and in London/Austin.

She loved the Lord and was known to all as a loving, considerate, selfless, and hard working Christian lady. Carolyn had a strong relationship with God, and often said, "Jesus is a good friend, and he is my friend." The success of her family stands on her strong faith and unselfish shoulders. She devoted her life to serving others and went above and beyond in her role as a wife, mother, and teacher.

Carolyn was fiercely loved by all around her, and she will be greatly missed. Although she no longer keeps us company on Earth, we know that she is loving and cheering us on from heaven.
