Carol Jean Knipling Woods was born in Houston, Texas on April 14, 1934, and passed away in Spring, Texas on April 21, 2026, at the age of 92, with her family by her side.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William H. Woods, her son, Barry Randall Woods, and her parents, William and Leona Knipling.

Carol is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia Jean Barger (and husband Ronnie Barger) and Donna Lynn Woods (and wife Camille Wheeler). She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Douglas Theodore Forward (Nicole), Bryan Kent Forward, and Brandi Lewis, bonus granddaughter Lauren Maldonado (Chris), and eight great-grandchildren, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Carol was an only child who greatly enjoyed the companionship of her many Knipling cousins who lived throughout Houston and Port Lavaca. She grew up in the Gulfgate area and was proud to be an East End girl. She graduated from Milby High School and attended the University of Houston, where she met the love of her life, Bill Woods.

Carol taught preschool early on before venturing into the corporate world, working for General Crude Oil Company, Mobil Corp., and Prudential Relocation. She relished working and did so until her late 60s. She attended Windwood Presbyterian Church for many years, facilitating Grief Share classes and serving on the Prayer Group and other church committees. She was a member of the Champions Garden Club and enjoyed the opportunities of giving presentations.

Carol was known for her warm and generous heart, opening her home to family and friends who needed a place of respite. She developed an especially close and unique relationship with her great-granddaughter Caline. Among Carol's many passions were quilting, reading, gardening, visiting with family and friends, and investing in the stock market. She especially enjoyed investment conversations with her son-in-law Ronnie (since to her dismay she could never get her daughters interested).

For the past several years she enjoyed living at The Conservatory at Champions Forest. Here she found that one is never too old to make new friends. She greatly enjoyed playing bridge and attending Happy Hour. We would be remiss in not mentioning Michael Malinowski, our family friend who has helped us tremendously for many years.  Invaluable help was also provided by the caregivers of Eleos Services, owned by Kelly Zoga. Michael and the caregivers meant the world to Carol.

Carol will be remembered by many for her conviction that there was no such thing as too many plants and also for her zeal for brightly colored clothes. She cared deeply for her family, her friends, and her dog Sugar, and her lasting legacy will be one of genuine love.

A memorial service for Carol will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Dr., Spring, Texas 77379. Favorite charities are American Heart Association, Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM), and Camo Rescue.
