Our dear Carol Lee Brokaw Ulloa passed away on July 17, 2022, in Spring, Texas at the age of 75.

Carol was born on August 24, 1946, in Penns Grove, New Jersey. She was the oldest of five children and moved to Jacinto City, Texas with her family when she was twelve years old.  Carol attended Galena Park High School and sang in the choir and loved performing as a Jacketeer on the drill team. In 1963, she was a contestant in the Miss Jacinto City Beauty Contest.

Carol met Javier (Hobby) Ulloa in Jacinto City and they married in 1965. They had two children, Kimberly and Richard. She loved her family dearly and worked hard taking care of and raising them. Carol's faith was foremost in her life. She loved spending time at Jacinto City United Methodist Church while her children were small, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, and helping in any way she could. When Carol and Hobby moved to Spring in the early 2000's, Carol joined Lakewood United Methodist Church where she enjoyed working in the nursery, and the children's ministry every opportunity that she was able.

For many years, Carol enjoyed working in the banking industry. She was a social butterfly and loved meeting and helping people in the community every day. Carol went back to college in her fifties and was only one math class away from obtaining her associates degree. After banking, she worked in Klein ISD for many years as a teacher's assistant and was beloved by all that knew her in the district.

Carol was blessed with five beautiful grandchildren whom she absolutely cherished.  Spending time with them was one of her favorite things to do. She was such a large part of their lives as "Mimi" and rejoiced in being actively present for each one.

Her love for people made it easy for Carol to make friends everywhere she went. She never met a stranger and she helped anyone that she could. Friends and family will also remember her love of animals. All of Carol's pets held such a special place in her heart. Carol's lifetime of love and caring for family and serving others will never be forgotten. Whether it was caring for her grandchildren when they were small, her sick mother, her aging grandmother, and especially caring for her husband after his stroke these last 14 years. As hard as some of her roles were, she always did them as though she was working for the Lord. We will miss her big smile, laughter, and her silly sense of humor the most.

Carol and Hobby were married 56 memorable years. Living only eight days without her, Hobby passed away and joined Carol in eternal rest on July 25, 2022.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Slavik and her husband, Joe; her son, Richard Ulloa and his wife, Chrisi; her grandchildren Andrew Rowell, Emily Rowell, Sarah Rowell, Dylan Ulloa and Savannah Ulloa; siblings Andrea Greever, Robert Brokaw, John Brokaw, and their families; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Virginia Brokaw; and brother-in-law Bowen Greever. Carol was succeeded in death by her beloved husband, Javier Ulloa on July 25, 2022, and cherished sister, Shirley Brokaw Vickers on August 8, 2022.

A Memorial Service to celebrate the lives of Carol and Javier (Hobby) Ulloa will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 11330 Louetta Road, Houston, Texas 77070.
