Obituary

Carol Maurine Key Twidwell
January 7, 1949 - November 29, 2025

Saturday, November 29, 2025, Carol Maurine went to walk with her beloved son, Galen Benjamin, to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Carol is the youngest child of Mrs. Wanda Baker Key and Mr. R.F. "Ted" Key. She was born in Dallas, Texas, was a graduate of Travis High School in Austin, Texas, and later attended Southwest Texas State University.

Carol met her intended Harry L. Twidwell at a Moose Lodge dance in 1968 and were later married in February 7, 1970, at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Austin, TX. Carol and Harry were blessed with their first child, Wendy Kay, in 1972 in Austin, TX. They then moved to Houston, Texas, in 1974 and were blessed with their second child, Corley Wade, in 1976 and their third child, Galen Benjamin, in 1987.

Before moving to Houston, Carol worked at the Austin State School and Texas Research Institute of Mental Sciences. Once she was in Houston, she began working for Bechtel Corporation and dedicated 36 years of service to them, retiring in December 2017.

Carol, being known for her abundant generosity and willingness to help wherever and whenever she could, was active in Scouting, her children's numerous school activities, and was a beloved member of St. John Lutheran Church in Cypress, Texas.

She leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Harry L. Twidwell, her daughter Wendy Ristow and son-in-law Jeffrey Ristow, son Corley Twidwell, and daughter-in-law Andrea Twidwell, and grandchildren Riley Ristow, Bryce Ristow, Haley Twidwell, and Lydia Twidwell.

The family asks that all those attending the funeral please wear the color Red, as it was Carol's favorite color.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the St. John Lutheran Church Benevolence fund, which can be found at https://stjohn.tv/give/
