Carol Sturgeon, 67, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 2:45PM to Tom Petty's song, "Free Falling". She had her family by her side, daughters Abigail Germon (Cory) and Elizabeth Sturgeon (Aaron Amerson), and her dear friend Linda Tupper-Trimm. Together they reminisced and held her hand as she left this world.
Carol was born March 31, 1955, in Donnellson, Iowa to Dwight and Mildred Krebill. Her father was a farmer and her mother a homemaker. Growing up Carol loved living in Iowa on the family farm, milking cows and "choring". She graduated from Central High School in Donnellson in 1973. She then attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa earning an Associates Degree in Business. After graduation, she moved to Houston, Texas to help her brother Douglas with his family. There, she met her husband, John Sturgeon. Carol worked as a Land Analyst, while John was a mechanic. They built a home in Spring, Texas, Sadly, her husband John passed away in 2001. They were married 15 years.
She was a member of the St. Paul's UCC Iowa Church, where she worked with various charities; including the ASPCA, WWF, ST. Jude, and various no kill animal shelters. Her hobbies and interests included her family, gardening, animal advocacy, and writing letters, such as birthday & Christmas cards to her family and treasured friends. She devoted much of her time and energy to her granddaughters, family and friends.
Carol is survived by her daughters Abigail Germon and husband Cory, and Elizabeth Sturgeon and husband Aaron Amerson and 2 beautiful granddaughters; Amelia Germon and Lochlyn Amerson. Carol is also survived by her sister, Deborah Werning and a brother and wife, Craig and Susan Krebill; along with many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 17th at 2 O'clock in the afternoon at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball, Texas. It will be preceded by visitation at 1 pm.
