Carol Sue Paysse Mitchem, 75, of Spring, Texas passed away peacefully at Village Green Memory Care Home on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Laura Paysse and survived by her husband, Robert Mitchem; sister Joy Daniel; and children Terry Novak and husband Chuck and Paige Groen and husband Todd.

Carol was born in Galveston, Texas and was proud to say she was a BOI baby.  Marrying soon after graduating from Ball High School, Carol started her family right away with the birth of Terry when she was 20 years old and Paige when she was 22.  Carol spent a few years as a bookkeeper and then became a full-time housewife, a role she took very seriously.  Carol supported her children in everything they did.  Carol devoted her life to raising Terry and Paige.  Although the wonderful memories are too vast to state; she made moments so special and some just simple, mostly she gave her girls her time.  Carol would often lay on her girls' beds while they were dressing to chat, to just be there.   Carol worked tirelessly to be a great mom, an engaged mom.

Carol was a housewife for 20 years before courageously entering the workforce again.  While starting in a mailroom position, Carol worked her way into accounting positions in the Oil & Gas field for Union Pacific Resources, American Exploration and Torch Energy.  Throughout the following 20 years, Carol worked in downtown Houston which she so enjoyed.  This time allowed her to grow so strong and become such an independent, inspiring woman.  While working, Carol dedicated herself to her dear mother who also suffered from Alzheimer's.  She retired after working Milestone Real Estate but decided she wasn't quite finished and then went on to work with her son-in-law for a few years at Stryker/Groen Commercial Realty.

Carol was a great friend and always kept in touch with old friends as well as new.  She was the epidemy of a selfless person.  While working, she met some wonderful people who would become life-long friends.  These friends made an everlasting mark on her life and heart when they introduced her to Robert Mitchem, who would propose to Carol on May 5, 2001.  Carol had probably never been more exited about anything since the birth of her children.  Robert would become her husband on September 8, 2001.  Carol began a new chapter in her life with Robert and they went on to create some fabulous memories, many included traveling.  The two were so fortunate to share many cruising, skiing and site-seeing adventures.  Not only did Carol gain Robert in her life but gained 3 beautiful step daughters as well, Pam, Sherri and Misti.

One of Carol's greatest joys was when she became a grandmother, Mimi to those babies.  Terry and Paige made her wait a while for 3 grandchildren, but it was worth it; Carol gleamed with pride and she was a natural.  In all, Carol and Robert had 11 grandchildren.

Our beautiful lady is now with The Heavenly Father, free of Alzheimer's and able to once again be the loving wife, best "Mom role-model" ever and doting Mimi we knew her to be.  We love you so much and will miss you every single day!

A celebration of Carol's life will be held on March 9, 2019 at Klein Funeral Home located at 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Klein, Texas 77379.  The family will receive visitors at 1:30pm while services will begin at 2:00pm.  A reception will be held at Terry Novak's house following the funeral; the family will join the reception following the burial.  Feel free to dress bright, Carol would have loved that.
