It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the matriarch of our family Carol Ann (Zmijewski) Franks. Carol was born in Hamtramck, Michigan on May 18, 1939, attended St. Florian's Catholic school where she made many lifelong friends and met the love of her life Michael Franks. They married in 1960, had 5 children and began a 65 year adventure together. The family moved with Michael's job from Michigan to Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, New Jersey, Missouri, Louisiana and Texas. It was Carol's love and spirit that turned every house into a home and a group of relatively uncontrollable kids into a family full of love.
Carol was an extraordinary person that had a genuine zest for life. She was intelligent, loving, charitable, fun and kind. She made friends as easily as she made dinner. If you needed her, she was there. Her faith was very important to her and she volunteered her time and talents to the Catholic churches that she was a member of. Throughout her life she had many passions. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and making beautiful stain glass all so that she could give it to those that she loved. Carol and Michael were lucky enough to travel the world and did so with many of their closest family and friends. From very humble beginnings, she built a beautiful life and she showed those around her how they could do that as well. If you were blessed enough to have the opportunity to know her, you were better for it.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Lorraine Zmijewski, her brothers Bobby and Edjiu Zmijewski and her son Jim Franks.
Carol is survived by her husband, Michael J. Franks; her brother Alfred Zmijewski, her children, Mark M. Franks (Nicole), Paul P. Franks (Beverly), (Tina Franks), Tom T. Franks (Kelley), and Cathy C. Horn (Blake); grandchildren, Sean Ancelet (Tara), Lauren Messerly (David), Taylor Franks, Andrew Franks, Christopher Franks, Madison Malvern (Daron), Grace Radocha (Jaden), Michael Horn, Trent Larocca, and Lauren Larocca; and great-grandchildren, Eric, Blaze, Corbin, Noah, Olivia and Reese and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a rosay service at 11:15am and a funeral mass conducted in her honor at noon on Friday, January 31 at St. Mathias the Apostle Catholic Church in Magnolia Texas.
