Carl Elton Lakey was born in Port Arthur, Texas on January 5, 1936 to Robert Carr and Effie Gertrude Lakey.  He attended Thomas Jefferson High School and then attended school and obtained a Journeymen Electrician license.  He and Louise married on March 2, 1956 in Port Arthur and moved to Houston Texas. He worked in the electrical field from 1955 until 1975 when he and Louise founded Lakey Electric from their home.  Lakey Electric has been opened for over 40 years and currently employs around 100 people including all three daughters at various times. Lakey Electric is currently run by Craig and Deanna Carr. Together they have three daughters, Denise, Deanna and Darlene.  He survived the weddings of all three daughters who were each married at Spring Woods Baptist Church where he and the family attended for many years while living in Spring Branch.  He prayerfully gave each one away and added three sons to his family, Ray Hundl, Craig Carr, and Rich Vela. Each of these wonderful men take great care of their families and love them unconditionally. He enjoyed fishing and golfing but mainly being outdoors.  He especially enjoyed piddling in his garage or with his plants.  He loved tinkering with old cars and has had many over the years. He often celebrated his patriotism on the 4th of July surrounded by his family at their weekend place in Hilltop Lakes enjoying the parade and fireworks while eating homemade ice cream. After many years of clipping floor plans in preparation, in 1998 they built their dream home in Jersey Village where they lived for 20 years.  After moving to Jersey Village Carl and Louise began attending Jersey Village Baptist Church where they made many wonderful friends. In 2017, Carl and Louise celebrated their 61th wedding anniversary.   During those years they enjoyed traveling together by plane, train, boat, and automobile to their theme song On the Road Again. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Angela and Jenny, Courtney and Brittany and Emily and Trey, two grandson-in-laws, Mark and Jonathan and a great grand daughter, Ellison and was excitedly anticipating the arrival of his great grand son in December. Carl loved old, gospel hymns which represented his lifelong faith.  It was important to him to live out his faith and pass it on to others.  On November 27, 2017, he went home peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He was a loving Husband, Father, Papaw and Great Papaw.
