Carl Finney, 75 years old, of Houston, TX. Born Jan. 13, 1948. Passed into Glory on May 30, 2023.
Carl is singing in Heaven because he knew God likes country music too. He is survived by his wife Gail, whom he fondly called "Ollie", married June 8, 1968. Also survived by his son Alan Finney & wife DeAnna and his daughter Melissa (Missy) Johnson & husband Darrell. Grandchildren: Alexis, Rachael, Brittany, Dalton, Liz, Michael, Lauren (Dani), Kyle, and Carl Wayne. Great-grandchildren: Quinn & Lucy Siblings: James & wife Donna, Carolyn & husband Thomas, Les & wife Rie, and brother-in-law Paul & wife Leslie. Also a host of nieces & nephews and extended family, whom he loved, one-and-all.
Carl was a true gentleman with a calm and determined personality. His passions included Faith in God, his music career, fishing & boating (Miss Ollie l, ll & lll), and baseball, "Go Astros!" He was proud of his Houston heritage with five generations of Greater Houston Area natives in his great-grandchildren. He was especially proud of his military service (Airborne Texas Army National Guard), his accomplishments as a professional singer and musician, and his life-long work as a sheet metal mechanic and project manager. His Bible was well-worn and his knowledge of religion, history, music, and classic movies was a source of many hours of conversation. He loved traveling the backroads and visiting historical sites and was a great guide to those places for special friends & family. He and Gail enjoyed some great overseas adventures but honestly, he liked Texas & Louisiana road trips best.
Carl and Gail would have celebrated 55 years of marriage this month. He is best remembered for his warm smile, jolly laugh, and big hugs. He and Gail wholeheartedly poured their lives into everyone who spent time with them. They both enjoyed opening their home for celebrations, entertaining at their beach house, attending events and live performances, and spending quality time with family and friends alike. Carl will be truly missed by all who knew him.
