Carl Thomason Anthony Jr., age 73, died peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital – The Vintage Hospital in Houston, Texas on Thursday, August 13, 2020. He was born to the late Carl Thomason Anthony Sr. and Anita Irene Marga Breitenbach on April 28, 1947 in Fuerth, Bayern, Germany.

Carl graduated from Baker High School in Columbus, Georgia in 1965. He enlisted in the Army shortly after high school and was stationed in Huntsville, Alabama. He met his future wife, Charla, at the NCO club there during the summer of 1967. They married three months later and the Army moved them to Nuremberg, Germany where they had their first child, Chuck. The Army then moved them to Fort Benning, Georgia where they had their second child, Julie, and then Fort Knox, Kentucky where they had their third child, Jenny.

Carl worked on his college degree over the course of about ten years while working full time, buying his first home with Charla, and raising a family. He earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1974 and was proud to have attended the University of Alabama. After Carl's separation from the Army in 1978, he and his family finally settled in Texas.

Carl moved to Texas in 1979 and lived in Garland for about ten years while working in business management at Texas Instruments in Dallas till 1990. After settling in Spring in 1991, he worked in management at Motorola Solutions, Alcon Manufacturing, and Compaq. He became a school bus driver in 2003 and just recently retired in early 2020. He described driving a bus as his favorite job. He loved transporting "the future" as he put it, back and forth from home to school. He said he felt he was doing "God's work" and it was a personal ministry that he thoroughly enjoyed.

Carl was a devout Christian and loved reading the bible. He was a natural at sharing his biblical knowledge and enjoyed meeting with his friends to study together. He worked hard to provide for his family. He proudly talked about his "12 trips to Alaska" that he and Charla made to visit their daughter and her family. He enjoyed fishing, loved history and even kept a personal historical journal of family events. His soul belonged to Jesus but his heart belonged to his late wife, Charla, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 30, 2017.

Carl is survived by his sister Eileen (Bob) Wiley of Nesbit, Mississippi, son Chuck Anthony of Willis, Texas, daughters Julie (Hugh) Denny of Anchorage, Alaska and Jennifer Anthony of Spring, Texas, nephew Jason Raines of Odessa, Texas, grandchildren Hillari Denny, Brendon Denny, Baylee Cantrell, Kylee (Kemp) Neyman, Hunter Denny, Jaden Anthony, Katalina Marks, and great-grandchild Nicole Neyman.

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for him at St. Luke's Hospital.

Arrangements were provided by Klein Funeral Homes and Carl will be interred at Houston National Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
