Cameron Dakota Huff

May 21, 1998 – August 7, 2021

Cameron Dakota Huff, 23, was born on May 21, 1998 in Humble, Texas, to Jacqulyn Huff and his proud grandparents, James and Janette Huff. Cameron passed away from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident in San Diego, California, on August 7, 2021.

Cameron was a kind-hearted, respectful young man who loved everyone.

Cameron attended MacArthur Senior High in Houston, Texas and proudly participated in the MacArthur Generals Army JROTC program throughout high school. He worked hard and became Cadet Captain and was crowned JROTC King in his Senior year. Both were proud moments for him and his grandparents.

While in middle school, Cameron played football and ran track and field and then participated in football games, JROTC parades, physical fitness competitions, cross country and the Wreaths Across America program while in high school.

He graduated in 2017 and soon joined the United States Navy where he served until his untimely death.

Cameron was also a big supporter and crew member for his Papa, Nana and Uncle Del Harris who successfully raced stock cars on asphalt circle tracks and road courses throughout Texas. He was always eager to learn and became a valued contributor to all three racing programs.

He enjoyed coming home on leave and hanging out with his best friends Isidoro and Abigail Mendez, Anthony Saenz and Jeremiah Pena, trying out many activities and making great memories.

Cameron completed Boot Camp and Tech School in Great Lakes, Illinois where he was awarded Certificate Of Course Completion Engineman A School and was then stationed in San Diego, California December of 2017 aboard USS Harpers Ferry (LSD49).

Immediately upon arrival, ENFN Huff became a valuable asset to Engineering Department, quickly receiving the qualifications necessary to ensure mission success during workups, HARPER'S FERRY'S 2019 deployment and beyond. ENFN was a designated Surface Warfare Specialist, and earned the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. ENFN Huff served his country well from 2017 to 2021 and will be laid to rest with full military honors at Klein Memorial Park in Pinehurst, Texas.

"Cameron made significant contributions to our ship's success, the values and ideals of the United States Navy, and the protection of our great nation. He was an amazing Sailor who will be sincerely missed by his shipmates and all that came in contact with him.

"I am very proud to tell you that Cameron was a well-liked and dedicated Fireman who honored his country and naval career. His outgoing personality and expertise made an immediate impact on those around him and he quickly gained the friendship of his peers and subordinates alike. He was one of the finest Sailors in this command and his positive energy could light up any room."

Cameron is preceded in death by his brother, Austin Kean Hayden of Houston, Texas.

Cameron is survived by his mother, Jacqulyn Huff of Houston, Texas, grandparents, James and Janette Huff of Houston, Texas, sister, Aubree Hayden of Winnemucca, Nevada, uncles and aunts, Del and Pam Harris of Huntsville, Texas, David and Rhoda Yackley of Magnolia, Texas, Dee Harris of Houston, Texas, Cousins, Scott and Donna Etheridge and their children Colton and Cylie of Brookhaven, Mississippi, James Vance of Houston, Texas, Corey and DJ Yackley of Magnolia, Texas, Cassidy and Destiny of Magnolia, Texas, along with many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and his very best friends, Isidoro, Abigail, Anthony and Jeremiah Pena
