Leo Calvin Kimmel (Calvin) of Tomball, Texas, was born February 7, 1929 in Gladewater, Texas. He went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 17, 2019. Calvin confessed his faith in Jesus to the time of his departure. Calvin was in the presence of family and his pastor at the time of passing.
Calvin was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and married there to Irma Martens Kimmel on June 29, 1956 and they were blessed with over 63 years of a Christ-centered marriage.
Calvin served in the United States Army as a Surveyor during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on November 30, 1960. Following the military, he was employed by Sohio Oil Company.
Calvin is preceded in death by his sister, Doris June Kimmel; brother, Lewis Gonell Kimmel; sister, Ida Lamoine Kimmel Irwin; his father, Lewis Benjamin Kimmel and his mother, Martha Naoma (Oma) Kimmel.
Calvin was self-employed with Machine Valve Parts, manufacturing compressor valves for the oil and gas industry. He was retired after many years of hard work. He had a passion for bowling and weekly competed with the team "The Night Owls." Calvin enjoyed fishing with family at Lake Irene in Bedias, Texas.
Calvin's primary focus in life was that of his family, which he cherished. He was the most loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grand Father anyone could possibly ask for.
Calvin is the loving father of Mike Kimmel and Linda Kimmel Winders. He is also survived by his loving daughter-in-law Nancy Kimmel, sister-in-law Marian Martens, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calvin will be greatly missed, and the family will forever keep him close to our hearts and looking forward to seeing him again with Jesus in Heaven.
Viewing will be at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball, Texas Sunday January 20, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be at Salem Lutheran Church Tomball, Texas January 21, 2019 at 12 p.m. Reverends Doug Dommer and Tim Carter officiating. Internment following at Salem Cemetery.
