Bruce Lynn Rhames, 82, died August 3, 2016 in Houston, Texas. He was born October 20, 1933 in Eagle Lake, Texas to Willie Alvis and Thelma Madden Rhames. He attended Brenham High School and enlisted in the United States Army before his high school graduation in 1949. He served in the United States Army and achieved the rank of Major before receiving an honorable discharge in 1974. He continued his career with the United States government as a Large Case Manager with the IRS until his retirement in 2002. He then worked for Brian Rhames Insurance Agency until 2015. He dedicated his life to his children, grandchildren, mastering card games and dominos. He was an accomplished father, brother, husband, uncle, soldier, patriot, accountant, gambler, beloved grandfather and loyal friend. Above all, Bruce loved the people who made up his world. He enjoyed a full life surrounded with joy. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
His former wife and mother of his children, Nora Mackenroth Rhames preceded him in death in 2002. He is survived by brother Dale Rhames; sister Delores Coringrato; son and daughter-in-law Brian and Bonnie Rhames; daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Randy Hilding; daughter Pia Sonntag. He will be greatly missed by grandchildren Joshua and Jordan Rhames; Grant and Hayley Hilding; Jens, Dan, Nils and Noreen Suaidy.
Visitation The family will receive visitors Sunday, August 7th from 5-7pm at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, in Spring, Texas. The funeral service will be held Monday, August 8th at 10:00 AM, Champion Forest Baptist Church, 1555 Stuebner Airline Road, Houston, with Dr. Stephen Trammell presiding. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday August 8th at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.
