Bruce Daniel Jones, the son of Dan and Dianne, was born on March 2, 1983 and passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023 at the age of 40 years and 6 months.
Bruce was born on a Wednesday at 3:45 pm. He tipped the scale at 9 pounds 11 ounces. The doctor told his dad that he didn't need to carry Bruce to the nursery because Bruce could walk there. Bruce's great-grandparents gave him an outfit to come home from the hospital in and that was the only time he wore it. As a newborn, he was wearing six month old clothes. Bruce was the only child for almost five years, until his baby sister, Katie, was born in 1988. The Jones Family was complete, blessed with a boy and a girl. Katie adored her "Bubba" and Bruce loved her so much.
Bruce became a child of God on April 17, 1983 when he was washed of his sins in Holy Baptism at Trinity-Klein Lutheran Church. The entire family and several friends celebrated this day with the traditional German Lutheran meal, bar-b-que and potato salad. It was a beautiful day.
His grandparents, Barnell and Betty Lange, were a huge influence on Bruce. He and his Papaw were buddies. They would tinker in Papaw's shop for hours or spend countless days at the lakehouse where they fished and made many memories together. Papaw loved to joke that they were going to have "tubular steaks" (hot dogs) for dinner, but Bruce knew better. Meals at the lake were always something special.
Growing up, Bruce played t-ball and little league baseball. At those games, he always had his own cheering section. Many Saturdays were spent at the Spring-Klein Baseball Park.
Bruce attended Roth Elementary and then went to Trinity Lutheran School for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Those years at Trinity instilled in him the foundation for his faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He participated in several sports there and made many lifelong friends
On May 4, 1997, Bruce was confirmed at Trinity-Klein. He was finishing up his 8th grade year, and was now able to partake of God's body and blood in Holy Communion. Of course, there was another family celebration of fun and fellowship.....and bar-b-que.
Bruce attended Klein Oak High School for a short while and then transferred to Concordia Lutheran High School in Tomball. He enjoyed playing football there with all of his friends from Trinity. Bruce graduated from Concordia in May 2001.
Bruce always enjoyed working and making his own money. After graduation, he became a delivery driver for Dr Pepper. He loved driving 18-wheelers. He really enjoyed getting to know his customers on his delivery routes. After Dr Pepper, he drove for Sysco Foods and Swift Foods.
On Friday, September 1, 2023, Bruce was called home by our Heavenly Father. All of Bruce's struggles and pain were finally over. Hopefully, his Papaw was waiting for him when God took his hand and walked him through the Gates of Heaven.
Left to cherish Bruce's memory are his parents, Dan and Dianne; his beloved Sister and Brother-in-law, Katie and Robert Fischer; his precious nieces, Brinley and Bailey Fischer; and his best friend and grandmother, Betty Lange, who allowed Bruce to live with her throughout all the hard times and good times. She never gave up on him. He is also survived by his Aunt Patty Gidden and first cousins, Chris and Andrew Gidden; numerous other cousins, and many friends.
Bruce is preceeded in death by his grandfather, Barnell Lange; grandmother, Vera Jones; great-grandparents, William and Mary Meineke, Otto and Katie Lange, Bruce and Lillian Smith; and Uncle, Lonnie Gidden.
Much love and thanks go to Bruce's friends and mentors at AA-Spring. Gary and Mike were always there for him.
Bruce's funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Trinity-Klein Lutheran Church at 10:00 am. There will be a public visitation prior to the service, beginning at 9:00. There will be an urn commital service at a later date. The church is located at 5201 Spring Cypress Road, Spring, TX 77379.
In lieu of flowers, Bruce's family suggests contributions be made in his memory to the Trinity Lutheran Church Food Pantry. He loved the time he spent there as a volunteer, working with many people from church and knowing he was helping families in our community.
