Bruce Alan Branch, 71, of Tomball, passed away at home on Thursday, January 30, 2020, from complications related to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

He was born in Houston, Texas, on November 9, 1948, to Guy and Madeline Branch. Bruce served proudly in the U.S. Army during which time he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam era. He retired after a 32-year career from Reliant Energy as a Head Operator. Bruce loved traveling with his wife, Esther, and listening to jazz music. He also loved being on the water, fishing and surfing.

After being diagnosed with ALS, he refused to be beaten by the disease. His spirit was unconquerable. While ALS may have caused his passing, it never defeated him. He was an inspiration to all those who knew him. He will always be remembered with a smile and willing to kindly lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife, Esther Branch; his mother, Madeline Branch; brother, Larry Branch; son, Keith Branch; daughter, Daisy Welton; stepchildren, Jacinda Melendez and husband Thomas, Christine Hairgrove and husband Nelson, Dolores Bomar and husband Rex, Joanna Detwiler and husband Charles, John Collins, Alexander Collins and wife Lindsey, and Eric Collins and wife Rachel; two grandchildren, Malia and Abe; and 13 step-grandchildren, Michael and Jennifer Bartholomew, Richard Hairgrove, Cameron Remsburg, Xzavier, Hayden, and Blaze Collins, Ashton and Rebecca Collins, Charles and Makayla Detwiler, and Clayton and Clint Collins.

Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, at Klein Funeral Home - Tomball, 1400 W. Main, Tomball, TX 77375. A funeral service will follow visitation at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will take place in Klein Memorial Park, FM 2920, Tomball.
