Bret Anthony Thompson went home to be with his baby girl, Makayla Bret, on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the young age of 53. Born August 20, 1968 in Baton Rouge, LA to Doug and Coral Thompson, Bret lived most of his life in Plaquemine, LA. Growing up Bret was active in many sports and when not on a ball field you can find him hunting or fishing. On September 26, 1998 Bret married Nicole McDowell, together they had 2 beautiful daughters, Alexandra Nicole and Makayla Bret. Bret and Nicole moved to Cypress, TX in 2003 where he resided until his passing. Tragically losing his youngest daughter to DIPG on April 16, 2013, Bret became a huge advocate and supporter of childhood cancer research.
He is preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Makayla Bret; Earline LeBlanc and husband, Hubert LeBlanc (maternal grandparents); Juanita and Weldon Thompson (paternal grandparents); JW Thompson, Uncle and Jackie Callegan, Aunt.
Bret is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Nicole M. Thompson; Daughter Alexandra Thompson; Parents Douglas and Coral Thompson; Brother Wade Thompson and his wife JoAnn; Sister In-Law Jennifer Villarrubia; In-Laws Steve and Linda Villarrubia and his beloved dogs Bourre and Frio.
Bret was known for being a hard worker; he worked his way up in the IT field from tech to manager by learning everything he could about the industry. He was also known to be fun loving, a jokester, a great story teller, an avid fisherman, a loyal friend and a proud dad. His grin was infections as was his laughter. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you consider making a donation in Memory of Makayla to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Texas Children's Hospital
