Our precious son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, Brendan Tate Pratt met our Lord and Savior on October 25, 2026. Brendan was born on September 14, 2000, in Morristown, New Jersey to Jeffrey and Stacia Pratt, and after realizing they had a Yankee Baby, the family quickly corrected the mistake and moved back to Texas settling in The Woodlands, just north of Houston. Two years later Brendan added the title “Big Brother” when his best friend and baby brother Braeden was born. From the moment he laid eyes on his new best friend, wearing his “I’m The Big Brother” shirt, the Two Bs were inseparable.
Brendan was a high-energy child who loved watching any kind of stormy weather, tracking airplanes, building his version of stadiums with blocks and Legos, landing planes on his mom’s furniture, pretending to drive NASCARs, and playing any game with a ball. But once he picked up a baseball bat, his passion for baseball was born.
Playing baseball was his true love. He played in the house with foam balls, played a made up game of hit-ball with his Dad and little brother (no girls allowed), threw countless games of long toss and catch with his Dad probably more than he ate, and loved the smell of his glove so much he would sleep with it. There weren’t enough games or practices to satisfy his love of the game. And to the annoyance of neighbors, he would hit off the tee into the backstop late into the night.
That love of baseball graduated into traveling for tournaments and eventually showcase ball, which is when so many of the best memories and conversations were made as thousands of miles on the road and in rental cars meant captured windshield time as Brendan’s heart, dreams, thoughts about the world, and the pursuit of the perfect BBQ was shared.
Brendan loved to travel, and whether it was a childhood trip to DisneyWorld, going to the family’s farmhouse in far Northeast Texas, joining a mission trip to Costa Rica, the annual vacations to Mexico, floating the Texas rivers with friends, or our extended trips to Italy with our Zio Paolo, Brendan loved being with his family first and foremost. He loved to learn about history, try new foods, experience new cultures and was always up to “go do” whatever was on the agenda. He just wanted to be with the people he loved and experience whatever it was they wanted to do next.
Graduating from Concordia Lutheran High School in Tomball, Brendan earned a scholarship to play the game he loved. COVID reared its ugly head and like many, his dreams were upended. After attending several schools in the Midwest, Brendan hung up his cleats, decided to follow in his Papa’s footsteps and become an accountant. He graduated from University of St Thomas in Houston with the highest honors, enjoyed two fabulous internships including one at The Ninfa Laurenzo Scholarship Fund where he had all of Mama Ninfa’s tacos he could eat while on the job.
He began his career at Grant Thornton and just recently accepted an auditor position at Baker Tilly in Frisco, Texas, where he had just rented his bougie apartment, bought brand new furniture, and even discovered the power of HomeGoods when he realized the rug he picked out had “Neiman Marcus” on the tag.
Brendan’s loss will be felt for a long time by many, but we know he is with Jesus and is playing chess and talking about baseball with his beloved Papa, holding hands with his little cousin Molly, and listening to the many Lynch-isms from his HS baseball coach, Rick Lynch.
Brendan is survived by parents Jeff “Pops” and Stacia “Momma”, his brother Braeden, grandmother June Jones, grandparents Clif and Dee Pratt, his Aunt Jodi and Uncle Brian Neitzel, Aunt Amanda Jones, Uncle Ryan Pratt, cousins Ainsley and Audrey Neitzel. Brendan will always be his brother’s beloved Bubby, our Bubs, and the sweetest gentle giant.
A fund is being created in Brendan’s name in the coming days, but the family wants to thank the unbelievable outpouring of love from the many friends who have shown up throughout this time with meals, hugs, and just themselves. There are no words to describe the loss of a child, even an adult one, but we know Brendan knew Jesus, Jesus knew Brendan, and he is in perfect peace in Heaven.
