It is with our deepest sympathy and sorrow that we announce the passing of Brenda Johnston on Nov 12, 2016, at 65 years of age with family by her side. She fought a courageous 18 month battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bob Johnston and two children, Naomi McBride (Jason McBride) and Heather Lylyk (Dave Lylyk), her grandchildren, Jaiden, Riley and Kelly McBride, Dayten and Kiara Lylyk and her puppies, Mickey, Brea and Jake.
Our memories of Brenda will be of a woman who was strong, loving, caring and generous. She was extremely focused on her career and was determined to succeed, and that she did. Brenda started her career in Scarborough, Ontario for Liquid Carbonic (Praxair) as a junior entry level accounts payable clerk and worked her way up to finish her career 30 years later as Director of Finance for Global HyCO business, Praxair, in Houston, Texas. She was an advocate for professional development and advancement for women in the workplace. At Praxair, she facilitated an initiative called Connections, where she coached women to develop and enhance their professional skills.
Brenda always found time for her dogs, which were the light of her life, her beautiful gardens and her family. She loved holidays, and always made sure her children and grandchildren where spoiled with her homemade cinnamon buns, abundant gifts and Christmas spirit.
Brenda gave back to her community by volunteering on the board for the Crisis Assistance Center in Montgomery County.
We would like to thank all of the care-givers at MD Anderson Medical Center for helping Brenda throughout her illness.
We invite you to celebrate Brenda's life with us on Thursday Nov 17, 2016 at Klein Funeral Home in Magnolia Texas.
Donations can be made to Crisis Assistance Center www.cac-mctx.org or The Children's Aid Foundation http://www.cafdn.org/in-memory/
