Obituary

Bon Manh Nguyen entered eternal rest on March 17, 2021 at 10:17 p.m. after fighting pulmonary disease for nearly three weeks at Southwest Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Truong Tan Nguyen and Kim Dung Thi Tran. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dien Thi Vu, his seven children – a son and six daughters, and his six siblings - a brother and five sisters. He was blessed with seventeen grandchildren and three great-grand babies whom he cherished more than anything in the world, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was born in Bui Chu, Viet Nam on October 9, 1944. He proudly served in the Republic of Vietnam Military Forces before 1975, Army of the Republic of Vietnam and Republic of Vietnam Air Force. His mission in life was to pass on the Catholic Faith to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, raise and educate them. Seeing his grandchildren grow was one of his greatest joys and accomplishments in life. He was a highly skilled and passionate Carpentry Instructor for many years. He loved gardening, planting trees and yardwork. He enjoyed holiday gatherings with his family, especially annual Christmas gatherings. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he enjoyed attending masses with his wife virtually many times a day, facetiming with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, having coffee with his wife while watching his large fish tank of many dragonfish, goldfish, and arowana fish. He stayed busy with a variety of projects around the house.

He was a monumental figure in the lives of his family, relatives and friends. His sudden passing has left a great emptiness in their hearts. His gentle words of wisdom, caring and loving soul will be eternally remembered and live on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Bon Nguyen on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., at Christ The Incarnate Word Catholic Church in Houston, Texas.
