On November 16, 2022, Bobbye Lou Gamble, Loving Wife, Sister, Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 92.
Bobbye was born on 02/09/1930 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to parents Robert Gordon Basinger and Eleanor Griffin Basinger. She grew up in a large, loving family with two brothers and five sisters. At 18, the beautiful Bobbye Lou won the Miss Fort Smith beauty pageant, which led her to compete for Miss Arkansas. She graduated from Fort Smith High School in 1948 and later attended The University of Arkansas to pursue General Studies.
In 1950, while working at a jewelry store in Fort Smith, Bobbye met Gordon D. Gamble. The story goes that it was love at first sight... (at least for Gordon). It was true, pure love because that same year, the two married on Christmas Day. In over 60 years of marriage, the two raised three children, ran multiple businesses, traveled the country in their RV, and attended many sporting events.
Bobbye was a poised woman, confronting every moment with compassion, grace, and a well-kept hairdo. Most importantly, Bobbye stayed faithful to her family's teachings: "to love one another and that family was the most important thing in all the world." Family is not only family but friends for life.
Bobbye is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, her parents, her two brothers, Griffin and Tom, and her five sisters, Eleanor, Elba, Eileen, Judy, Betty Jane.
She is survived by her children Marion Arrington, daughter, Bret Gamble (wife Kathy), son, and Zoe Roper (husband Daryl), daughter, Grandchildren - Jennifer Guinn (husband Larry), Ashley Biegel (husband Steven), Matthew Gamble, Taylor Murray (husband Blake), Kyle Gamble, Anthony Armendariz, Ryan Gabbart (wife Sarah). Great Grandchildren - Ayden Guinn, Ethan Guinn, Jace Patton, Kason Murray and Wyatt Gabbart. And many loving nieces and nephews.
The family has entrusted Klein Funeral Home - Cy-Fair Northwest, 9419 Wortham Boulevard, Houston, with the arrangements.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, November 22, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., at Klein Funeral Home - CyFair Northwest. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, in the funeral home chapel followed by interment at Houston National Cemetery at 2 p.m.
A reception will follow at Kathy and Bret Gamble's home immediately following the services. Rev. Dr. Tres Adams, Senior Pastor, Windwood Presbyterian Church, will officiate the ceremony.
