Bobby Daniel Ricketts passed away on March 13, 2021.  He was born February 8, 1942 in Weslaco, Texas.

Preceded in death are his parents, A.O. Ricketts and Opal Wakefield Ricketts, Sister Iva Jo Ricketts Wallace and baby brothers, A.O. Jr and  Gene Ricketts and sweet niece, Susan Wallace.

Survivors are his wife and sweet angel, Roycerene Ricketts, daughter Debra Ricketts Boles (husband Darren Boles), son Michael Ricketts (wife Kathy Ricketts).  Four grandchildren: Ashlynne Boles, Alyssa Boles, Madeline Ricketts and Mallory Ricketts.  Also surviving is his sister, Versa Martin (husband George) and favorite nieces Vicki, Kaye Wallace, Nell Whitehouse.

Attended Pan Am University of Edinburg Texas.  He worked and retired from PPG Industries of Corpus Christi.

He met the love of his life on a radio station party line. For those of you who are too young to know what a party line is, it's a phone line that is shared with other people.  They have been married for 60 wonderful years.

He loved playing tennis and was on the junior and high school teams.  He was always teaching Debbie and Mike the rules and how to score in tennis in the garage on a chalkboard hoping they would play in school.  They didn't like tennis.  He told Royce that she couldn't play because she ran funny.

He loved all his granddaughters and he was so proud of them and the women they've become.  Papoo asked Ashlynne to try some grapes, she didn't like grapes.  He said "ok, then you have to learn the words to Highway Man and sing it too.  Alyssa wanted in on this and so she learned a part and they sang the song rather than eat grapes. Now this song is forever a memory of their papoo for the both of them.

His love of chocolate popsicles was unreal. Don't bother asking if he wants one because the answer is always yes. He passed on his love of those chocolate popsicles to his grandchildren Ashlynne & Alyssa.

He loved his childhood dog,Tuffy, and there are many tales about Tuffy.  And through the years, he loved Jethro and Lucas as well.

His favorite thing to do was pile everyone in the car to "take a ride" on Sundays.  The kids couldn't wait to be old enough to stay home alone on their own just so they didn't have to "take a ride". Well into their golden years, Bobby and Royce still went on rides through the town.

Bobby was a kind and generous man. He was thoughtful, remembered all our birthdays and would sing happy birthday over the phone. He was a very intelligent, smart man.  We called him a walking encyclopedia as he knew a lot about a lot of things.  The legacy to his children and grandchildren was that they make good decisions about everything.  We'd ask what do you want for your birthday and he would say, "for you to drive 5 miles under the speed limit."  He was always looking out for our safety, whether it was waiting up all hours of the night until we came home, or teaching us how to change a tire, keeping the oil changed, to even worrying about whether or not we knew about finances for our future.  He taught us well.  He loved to make jokes and laugh. We all are better people to have had him in our lives. Most important of all, he believed that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for our sins
