Bobby Jack Mayo passed away on December 26, 2017 in Houston after a long illness.

Bob was born December 27, 1925 in Richland, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Carson and Clarice Mayo, by his sister, Christell, and by his brother, Carson Jr (Bud).  He is survived by his wife, Joalice, of 73 years, and by 4 daughters and spouses: Janet Mouser and her husband Mike, Karen Webster and her husband Greg, Linda Pavlicek and her husband, Henry, and Melanie Thurmond and her husband Tom. Bob is also survived by 11 grandchildren and spouses: Kimberley Bennett and husband Jason, Steven Mouser and wife Amber, Amy Parker and husband Jamie, Jake Pavlicek, Brian Mouser, Karly Chittenden and husband Bryan, Brooke Favorat and husband Craig, Laura Lowe and husband Chris, Lindsay Thurmond, Caleb Webster, and Luke McDowell and wife Tiffany.  He is also survived by 18 great grandchildren.  Bob carried a special place in his heart for his departed pet dog, Sugah.

He was known to all his family and friends for his calm, patient demeanor, for his honesty, and for his dry wit. He displayed skill as a handyman and as a "tinkerer" who could repair just about anything.  Bob will be especially remembered by his survivors for possessing a bright and engaging smile and for his intelligent, caring, and loving manner and for providing guidance and advice to all who needed it.

He served in the US Army Air Corps in WWII. Bob then received a BSEE from The University of Texas. He was first employed by Republic Flow Meters for a short period and then by Houston Lighting and Power Company for 36 years until he retired in 1987.  While there, Bob was known for his pragmatic style, engaging character, and unwavering honesty.

Pall bearers are Steven Mouser, Brian Mouser, Jake Pavlicek, Luke McDowell, Caleb Webster, Jason Bennett, Jamie Parker, and Ethan Bennett.
