Bobby Jean Acker Hatchett, age 88, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2017 in the Solana Vintage Park, an assisted living/memory care community, in Houston, Texas.     She was born to Lollie Mae Stearman Acker and Claude Hillman Acker on January 10, 1929 in Midland, Texas.    She spent most of her youth growing up in Wichita Falls, Texas learning to dance, cook and sew.  She lost her father during the depression but years later her mother re-married and in 1942 she moved to Houston with her mother and her step-dad, FM "Dutch" Morris.  Bobby Jean, as she was called as a young girl, loved "Dutch" very much as he was such a wonderful step-dad.  She was her mother's only child and Dutch never had any children of his own.  She graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1946.

Her work career began at The Fashion, a clothing store in Houston, working as a retail clerk and model.  She continued her career working for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 12 years and retired from Cypress Fairbanks ISD after 30 years of employment.  Her fondest work memories are from her days working at Cy-Fair High School and then working as the principal's secretary at Cypress Creek High School.  Even though she transferred to a different school, she was always loyal to her Cy-Fair Bobcats.  Bobcat Fight Never Dies!  She retired in 2002 after finishing her career in the Ancillary Personnel department at Central Office.

In 1956 Bobby met her husband of 31 years, John Hatchett.  Bobby was a little reluctant for this meeting as she was set up on a blind date by her cousin.  His match making paid off and they married in 1958 sharing a lifetime of memories before their marriage unfortunately ended.  They had two children and ultimately three beautiful grandchildren.

She followed all the local professional sports team with her favorite being the Houston Oilers.  "Luv ya Blue"!  She was a member of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church and enjoyed bible study and bus trips with her friends.    She loved traveling, especially being anywhere on a beach, a lake or in the middle of the Caribbean.  Some of her favorite vacations were with her family going snow skiing with some of the families that worked for the school district.  Water skiing on Lake Travis with her family and friends was another place she enjoyed to spend time. Of course, her greatest loves were her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Thompson along with husband, Joe, her son, Todd Hatchett and Jami Grago.  Her grandchildren, Trevor Thompson and his wife, Jordan, along with Keely Hatchett and Jaxon Hatchett.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Lollie Mae Stearman Acker, her father, Claude Hillman Acker and step-father, FM "Dutch" Morris.  In addition, her cousin (more like a sister) Mary Sue Milliron.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Solana Vintage Park for their care and love that they showed Bobby during the four years that she lived in their community.
