BOB BATCHELOR
1939-2018
Robert Charles (Bob) Batchelor was born in Washington, Indiana on April 20, 1939, to parents Bernard and Eva Mae Batchelor. He died on October 30, 2018 in Houston, Texas.
He graduated with a degree in medical technology from Elkhart University and began his life long career with Abbott Laboratories in 1965, finishing as District Sales manager in Abbott's Hospital product division in Houston, Texas. He was recognized as an outstanding district manager and on numerous occasions for excellence in territorial performance.
Bob married Joan Austin, the love of his life, in 1964. They celebrated 54 years of marriage together this year. They are extremely proud of their children, Jennifer and Christopher, and of their four grandchildren.
Over the years, Bob was an athlete, coach and avid sports fan. He was a parent volunteer and later devoted many hours as a volunteer for Northwest Assistance Ministries. He was honored with one of Houston Mayor Lanier's Outstanding Volunteer Awards for unselfish service. Bob also served on the parish council for Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic community and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the 55 plus group at the church. He and Joan continued to be active members of Serra Club for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
Bob is survived by his wife, Joan; his daughter, Jennifer Wessels and husband Paul of Park Hills, Kentucky and their children, Adam and Evan; and son, Christopher Batchelor, the Woodlands, Texas and his children Lauren and Timothy. Bob is also survived by his sister, Beverly Spaulding of Jasper, Indiana and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Dick Batchelor and his granddaughter, Sarah Batchelor.
Rev. Stephen Austin will be the celebrant for the funeral Mass which will be at 11AM on Tuesday, November 6 at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 18511 Klein Church Road, Spring, Texas.
Donations in Bob's honor may be given to Northwest Assistance Ministries, 15555 Kuykendahl Rd. Houston, Texas 77090 281-885-4555
