Bill Saunders went to be with the Lord on November 23, 2016 at the age of 85 in Houston, Texas. A celebration of life will be held at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, Texas, on December 1, 2016.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with services to follow at 9:30 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Houston National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.

Bill was born on November 26, 1930 to the late E.E. and Essie Plumlee Saunders in Plainview, TX. He grew up in Sherman, Texas and was a 1949 graduate of Sherman High School where he played football, basketball, and ran track. Upon graduation Bill joined the United States Marine Corps. While serving as a demolition and rifle expert he obtained the rank of Sergeant during the Korean War. After honorably serving his country, Bill returned home and joined his father at the Saunders Motor Company selling cars.

Bill was in the car business most all of his life, becoming a well-respected businessman. He owned multiple dealerships both in Sherman and Houston. In his free time Bill enjoyed saltwater fishing, golfing, gardening, and spending time with friends and family, especially during his favorite holiday, Christmas.  Bill was known as an exceptional gift giver and loved showering others with gifts, even in his final weeks.

Bill is survived by his three daughters and son, Cynthia Lee and her husband Jim of Pinehurst, Susan Caldwell and her husband Fred of Cypress, Pam Alloway and her husband Jim of Cypress, and Mark Saunders and his wife Jessica of Houston; and his grandchildren, Eric Wynn and his wife Christy, Amanda Grace Caldwell, and Lindsey Caldwell.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sisters, Maureta Spencer and Opal Zell Marshall; and brother, G.E. "Buddy" Saunders.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Disabled American Veterans or the Houston Honor Guard c/o Klein Funeral Home.
