Billy E. Ragan, 86 of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully July 3, 2025, at home surrounded by family after a lengthy illness. Bill was born on July 15, 1938, in Bauxite, Arkansas to the late Felton Ragan and Martha (Deaton)Ragan.

After graduating from Benton High School,  Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Ipswich, England. While serving, he was a member and played on the 81st Tactical Fighter Wing Suffolk Titan's Football Team, winning the 1959 United Kingdom Championship, Naples Italy.

Bill met Marilyn while attending University of Arkansas in Little Rock. They moved to Houston, Texas in 1974, and Bill continued his studies at University of Houston. While having an extensive electrical career in the industrial and commercial lighting field, many friends and colleagues were made while transferring to St. Louis, MO, Tupelo, MS, and finally Dallas, TX for 23 years.

Bill loved the game of golf and played on many courses, including his favorite memories on Augusta National, St. Andrews Old Course, Royal Troon and Kapalua.  Bill and his wife Marilyn retired and moved back to Houston. They found their church home and became members at St. Cuthbert's Episcopal Church, Houston.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marilyn Gardner Ragan, loving daughter Kara Ragan Jones (partner Tim McGee), son Kenneth Ragan, granddaughters Kendall Carlton, Hannah Carlton Sartain (Ryan) and great-grandson, Clayton, Hannah Jones, Sarah Jones and special daughter/friend Ella Woodard. Bill, Daddy, "Big Dog"/Grampy will be greatly missed!

The family would like to thank the Sunset Hospice team for their wonderful care and service.

Committal Services with honors will be held at Houston National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of traditional flowers, the family is asking that a memorial contribution may be made to The American Heart Association, The Alzheimer's Association or A Walk To End Alzheimer's Team Big Dog in honor of Bill E. Ragan.
