BILLY  J.  "PAT"  KEENER  passed away on August 13, 2024.  He was born in Ranger, Texas on August 22, 1932, son of Harvey J. and Bonnie Spindle Keener.  After graduating from Pasadena High School in 1949 at 16 years of age, he entered the oil industry workforce with Humble Oil and Refining Company.  During his tenure with Humble Oil, he served four years with the United States Air Force in Europe.  Honorably discharged in 1955, he completed his college education through three universities - the University of Maryland (while in the military), the University of Texas in Austin and the University of Houston in Houston, where he graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Personnel Management.

Upon graduation, he re-entered the workforce and spent his 38-year oil industry career in Employee Relations management (now Human Resources), primarily with The Superior Oil Company in Houston, Texas.  He took pride in making sure that Superior Oil hired the highest quality employees, paid above average wages and provided the best benefit programs in the industry.  He was dedicated to helping Superior employees, retirees and/or surviving spouses, advising them of their benefits and guiding them in their time of need.  Even after his retirement in 1987, he continued his involvement with Superior retirees and alumni by forming monthly luncheons, annual reunions, retiree directories and updated benefit information.

He retired early to spend more time with family, traveling with his lovely wife Davlyn, ranching and training horses which was his life-long hobby. He enjoyed sports, having lettered in High School football and baseball.  Along with travel, he also loved art, gardening, helping family and friends and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was an exemplary husband, father and grandfather, member of several organizations including educational, military, business, religious, civic and community.  He also helped to support several charitable organizations with primary emphasis on the needs of young children and their families.

He is preceded in death by his cherished wife of 67 years, Davlyn Whitten Keener; his son, Gregory Keener; his parents, Harvey and Bonnie Keener; and sisters, Linda Jeannette Ramsey and Frankie May Cordray.

He is survived by his daughter, Michele L. Keener of New York City, New York; grandchildren, Ryan Patrick Keener and wife Ashley Keener, and Kylie Allysa Forte and husband Aaron Forte of Wharton, Texas; daughter-in-law Brenda Keener of Wharton, Texas; great-grandchildren Allison Fojtik, Elizabeth Keener, and Indigo Forte; sister Betty June Childers of Houston, Texas; brother Michael Wayne Keener and wife Brenda of  Houston, Texas along with numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends and colleagues.

The family will receive friends and visitors at Klein Funeral Home Tomball at 1400 West Main Street on Wednesday, August 21 from 5 to 7 PM.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Champions Forest Baptist Church at 15555 Stuebner Airline, Houston, Texas, at 11 AM with the Reverend Brent Johnson officiating.  Internment to follow at Klein Memorial Park Cemetery at 9714 FM 2920 in Tomball, Texas.
