Billy Stokes Chaney
October 22, 1946 - February 28, 2017
Billy Chaney went home to be with The Father on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was a native of Houston, Texas, "born and raised". After beginning his professional career with the Internal Revenue Service, Billy had a CPA practice for 39 years. He was a proud Army veteran and had the greatest respect for those who serve their country. He attended McMurry University for his undergraduate degree, but his great love of learning drew him back to school at Rice University at the young age of 59 for his master's degree.
Billy was loved by many, both family and friends. He is survived by his wife and great love of 48 years, Norma Chaney and his daughter Christy Chaney. He was the eldest son of and is survived by his father, H.H. Chaney Jr. and his mother, Lenora Chaney. Additionally, he is survived by brothers and sisters – Maureen Castleberry, Allen Chaney (wife Lynda), Bobby Chaney (wife Cindy), Tammy Parsons (husband Terry) along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. His list of friends is endless and his love for them was overflowing.
Billy's greatest passion was golf; playing it, watching it, talking about it, and especially, teaching it to Christy.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2017 at Klein Funeral Home – Cy-Fair, 9719 Wortham Blvd, Houston, TX 77065. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 7th, in the funeral home chapel.
