Billie Biehl Lindsey's Obituary
Billie Biehl Lindsey is healed. She ended her last hospital visit by leaving her bed and walking painlessly into the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Full of eternal energy, she will spend forever in heaven, where she was welcomed by Ken and Mike.
Born on April 19, 1939 in Sullivan, Missouri, to G.W and Alma Biehl, Billie turned out to be a girl, even though her dad had wanted a boy, so the boy's name stuck. She was the oldest of four sisters. Right after her high school graduation, she married Kenneth Ray Lindsey. Thus began a love story that endured his military service, the birth of three children, a move to Dallas, and finally in 1976 a move to Spring.
Ken and Billie immediately began to serve at Champion Forest Baptist Church. They opened their home to any summer intern that needed a place to stay; most of the showers for preachers' children were held at Billie's. She loved having the various preachers over for Sunday lunch. As a part of the New Life program, Billie cared for several unwed mothers in her home. She spent Saturdays at garage sales buying beds and couches that she then passed on to families who needed furniture. She loved to design a room: both for clients at Jo List Interiors where she worked many years and for friends whom she helped for many more years. Her attic and green room were over flowing with fabric, lamps, tables, and sofas to share with others. Billie's last big design project was the CFBC's Mission House, where she called in favors from all her friends to furnish a welcoming home for furloughed missionaries. Billie and Ken were forever-members of a bridge group of CFBC members that monthly ate together, talked together, and occasionally played bridge together.
Billie was predeceased by her father and mother, husband Ken, and son Mike. She is survived by her children Marcia Locher (Robert), Laurie Lindsey Jacobs (Mike) and Shelley Serres (Greg). Billie was a loving and proud grandmother of six: Lindsey Wendt (Cameron), Kyle Serres (Lyndsey), Kenny Lindsey, David Lindsey, and the twins Bradley and Stephen Lindsey. She is also survived by her sisters Doris Hesse, Janet Underhill, and Becky Wylie, as well as her sister-in-law Judy Chapman.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 13, at Klein Funeral Home - Champions, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, TX 77379. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 14, at Champion Forest Baptist Church, 15555 Stuebner Airline Road, Houston, TX 77069. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, August 14, at Houston National Cemetery.
If desired, and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Champion Forest Baptist Church Student Ministries.
