Billy Gene "Bill" Haygood, born November 11, 1929, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, at the age of 94. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sondra, in 2012, and is survived by his three children, Robert Haygood (and wife Patricia), Sheila (Bitsy) Lee and Barbi Haygood along with four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Bill was raised on his family's dairy farm in Springtown, Texas, alongside his five siblings. In 1952 he met the love of his life, Sondra, and embarked on a life filled with love and adventure. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, based in Okinawa during the Korean War and finishing in Cheyenne Wyoming at Warren Air Force base.

After his military service, Bill began a remarkable career at Nabisco Food Company. Over the course of 40 years, he worked his way up from a salesman to the position of Vice President, earning the affectionate nickname "The Little General." He was known for his strong leadership, dedication, and the deep friendships he formed at Nabisco, which endured throughout his life. After his retirement at age 65, Bill remained active as a sales consultant until age 70 and then established a brokerage company with his dear friend, Burt Stacy, providing manufacturing contacts to retailers such as Walmart.

While Bill was immensely proud of his professional accomplishments, his true passion was his family and friends. He was deeply loved and respected, known for his loyalty, his infectious smile, his warm laughter, and his wise counsel. To know Bill was to love him, and he gave that love back tenfold. His stories, wisdom, and friendship will be dearly missed by the hundreds of people whose lives he touched.

In his later years, Bill continued to live life to the fullest. He enjoyed playing golf multiple times a week, attending breakfast club, joining friends for dinner parties and country club events and took great joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

After 60 years of marriage to Sondra, he cherished many years of companionship with his beloved girlfriend, Judi Losa.

Bill's passing was as graceful as the life he lived. Surrounded by friends on a golf course in Galveston, Texas, during a golf trip, he left this world doing what he loved most.

Bill will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering friendship will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
